What’s the biggest crazy golf brand in the UK?

Crazy golf continues to flourish in the UK, with more courses opening every month. But what’s the biggest brand of them all? Here we take a look at the companies leading the way.

4 venues each – Puttshack, Lost City, Putt and Play

In addition to the four Putt and Plays, there are a couple of other brands that are part of the same Hollywood Bowl group – Puttstars in Leeds, and Hollywood Bowl in York.

5 venues each – Scrapyard Golf, Putt in the Park

Scrapyard Golf has five different locations within bowling alleys. The 9-hole courses are generally quite small, with prices at £8 for adults and £6 for children.

Putt in the Park is mostly based in London, with only the Colchester venue being located outside the capital.

6 venues each – Putt Club, Putt Putt Social, Treetop Golf

Treetop Golf joined this group just this week, Dec 2024, when its new venue in Bristol opened.

Putt Putt Social used to be known as Putt Putt Noodle. Putt Club used to have an extra venue, but the one in Bushey, Hertfordshire, closed.

7 venues each – Junkyard, Golf Fang

Coming in at joint second place in the table are these two companies.

Junkyard has indoor venues where there are big savings if you choose to play 18 holes instead of 9; generally around £14.50 off peak (£16.50 peak) outside London, compared to £9.50 off peak (£11.00 peak) for 9 holes.

Golf Fang is slightly cheaper, reaching as low as £8.50 off peak (£9.50 peak) for 18 holes in Leicester.

16 venues – Mr Mulligans

In second place is Mr Mulligans with 16 separate venues. Many of these used to be branded differently – there were 7 Mr Mulligans, 3 Mr Mulligans Lost World, 3 Mr Mulligans Pirate Golf, 2 Mr Mulligans Dino Golf, and 1 Mr Mulligans Space Golf – but now they are all known by the same name. Pricing is generally around £10 to £11 for adults and £7 to £8 for children.

The same group also runs the Bunkers crazy golf sites in Romford and Swansea, as well as 19 Ninja Warrior venues.

20 venues – Boom Battle Bar

Leading the way is Boom Battle Bar, which has 30 venues around the country featuring activities such as axe-throwing, shuffleboard, pool, darts and karaoke.

And two-thirds of the sites also have ‘Crazier Golf’ courses, which are generally nine holes featuring a variety of catapults, loops, conveyors, and coming in at around the £10 per person per round mark.
